Guest Post

Are you interested in writing a guest post for One Money Design?  Well, what’s the advantage of submitting a guest post?  Being somewhat new to the blogging world, I’ve found submitting guest posts to other websites a great way to gain more exposure to OMD.  It can also work well for you.

Benefits of guest posting

A regular reader at a well traveled website reads your guest post, wants to know who wrote it and then visits your own website to find out more about you.  The reader likes content you’ve published on your website and becomes a subscriber and reader of your blog too!  It’s as easy as that.  The website that publishes your guest post also receives benefit in providing value from a new perspective to its readers.

Here are a few guidelines I’ve found to be helpful.  I think you’ll find these to be closely in-line with guidelines at other blogs and they provide enough flexibility to provide benefit to you, the readers and OMD.

Guidelines

  • All articles must be between 600 – 1000 words.  This is typically a good guide for a value-added blog post.
  • What kind of content is accepted?  Typically, writing about everyday personal finance that helps people is what works well here.  But, if you need more information, here are some ideas:
    • Anything related to Biblical finance, what you’ve learned from Dave Ramsey, Crown Financial Ministries or other Christian authors.
    • Feel free to publish personal finance book reviews.
    • Experience with money management or issues and what you’ve learned in overcoming them.
    • Personal finance answers (how to’s, etc.).
    • Ways to make extra money or save money.
    • Important current personal finance news that impacts all of us.
  • After the article has been published on OMD for 1 month you can post it on your website.
  • Feel free to add up to 3 relevant links back to your website in each article, but please do not include any affiliate links in the article.
  • If you have a website, you can include a 2-3 sentence byline with a site link and description.  The byline will be posted at the end of the article.
  • Articles are due on Sunday evening to be posted for the upcoming week.
  • I will make formatting adjustments to the articles and may change the title and subheadings.  If I feel anything else needs to be modified, I’ll reach out to you to discuss.
  • I can only publish previously unpublished articles.  Please no re=prints.

If you would like to submit an article please attach it to an email as a MS Word document and send to:  Jason at One Money Design.com for review.

  • The new credit card law went into effect today (2/22/10).  There are some steps you can take to hold your bank to the new credit card laws if they don’t follow them.

  • Most people think about retirement planning requiring financial precision and focus.  However, the non financial issues of retirement, as discussed, by Walter Updegrave at CNNMoney.com, are important too!  I think this article echos the importance of understanding your purpose and building retirement work years around it.

  • Credit card companies are putting together new DIY cards as a result of new credit card laws.  But, does the ability to pick and choose different features really benefit the customer?  Make sure you read the fine print because there are trade-offs and the card companies are still in control.
