About

One Money Design is a personal finance blog focused on helping people achieve true financial freedom.  You’ll find practical tips for managing money wisely and Biblical financial guidance to help you make forward progress on your financial journey.

True financial freedom

Have you ever wondered what life would be like if you were debt free (including the mortgage) and had completely funded your children’s education and your retirement?  In other words, you would no longer depend on a full-time job to provide for your needs.  All of your income would be generated from your retirement funds or other investments.

What would you do at that point in your life?  Would you consider yourself financially free?  Some people pursue such goals and the idea of getting rich quick with the intent of retiring young and wealthy.  They want to freely enjoy life and possessions based on their will and desires.

I believe in a different version of financial freedom.  True financial freedom (the final destination on the Crown Money Map) is quite different.  I think accomplishing such milestones is important so we may have the ability to become more generous with our time and money and fulfill God’s purpose for our lives.

The road to getting there isn’t easy.  It requires discipline, hard work and a desire to manage money wisely each day.  I don’t think we can do that on our own.  I think it’s paramount for us to understand and use Biblical financial principles as a guideline to all of our money oriented decisions.

One Money Design?  What does that mean?

The title of this blog, One Money Design, reflects my fundamental beliefs about money management.  The Bible provides over 2300 scriptures about money.  Scripture tells us there is one owner of money, God (Psalms 24:1), and we are the managers (1 Corinthians 4: 1-2) of what has been entrusted to us.

So, here is how I break down One Money Design:

  • One:  God is the one owner of everything, including money.
  • Money:  God has entrusted money into our care to manage wisely.
  • Design:  The Biblical design or plan for managing money I believe we need to follow to reach true financial freedom.

Content

The objective of the content (and videos) is to help you create forward momentum on your journey to true financial freedom.  You’ll find content about the Bible and money, planning (budgeting, retirement, etc.), giving, spending and saving.

How often do I post new articles?  I regularly update One Money Design by posting a minimum of 3 quality articles per week.  In some weeks I may post more, or even include a video.  You’ll also find that I update the One Money Design side blog from time to time with devotionals, short posts and links.

Who should you read this blog?

One Money Design is for Christians and non Christians.  Bottom line, this blog is for people who are serious about their personal finances and want to manage money versus money managing them.  It’s for those who hate debt, are ready to make forward progress towards their financial goals, and manage money wisely.  It’s for those interested in achieving true financial freedom.

Why is this blog unique?

In short, I believe One Money Design is different from other personal finance blogs because of my personal experience.  It reflects what I’ve learned and am learning about personal finance.

It also includes content to overcome real life money situations and challenges I’ve seen and helped people deal with first-hand in my volunteer Money Map Coaching.

Personally, I desire my family to prosper financially, become debt free and experience true financial freedom some day following God’s Biblical financial principles.  But I also genuinely have the same desire for people who are serious about their financial journey.

Money Map Coaching

Along with writing about personal finance I am a volunteer Money Map Coach striving to help people honor the Lord in their finances, live on a budget and get out of debt.  Money Map coaching involves in-person coaching sessions to teach and provide guidance on these topics.

Even as a coach I don’t live with a perfect financial situation today, nor do I consider myself an expert in the area of personal finance.  However, I’ve found great joy in working with people in what can be such a challenging area of life.

Sometimes I learn as much as the coaching participants.  No matter the situation, I’m usually asked a question I can’t answer, but I see it as an opportunity to find the answer in order to help the participants and me grow.

You can learn more about Money Map Coaching by visiting Crown Financial Ministries, or you can visit my personal Money Map Coaching page.

Where else can you find me?

If I’m not writing here at One Money Design, you can find me writing for Bible Money Matters.  I typically post one article per week on the same type of content you’ll find here.
