Happy Thanksgiving and Black Friday Tips (Not What You Think)
I’d like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving today! I hope you’re having a blessed day with your family and/or friends and not eating too much.
There are many things I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving. I could generate a fairly large list, but there are a few things that float to the top I thought I would mention today.
My Thanksgiving
Dave Ramsey always says he’s better than he deserves when asked how he’s doing. I admire his humble response and believe the same for my life too. God has provided much and I’m especially thankful that I can have a relationship with Him through His son Jesus who died for my sins.
I’m thankful for my wife and two children who bring me tremendous joy each day. I’m also thankful for our other family members.
I’m thankful that God does His part in our finances. He provides everything and He has given us the great responsibility and opportunity to manage them.
Finally, I’m thankful for you as a reader of One Money Design. Blogging here at One Money Design has been a lot of fun and I look forward to continuing my work.
Black Friday Tips
Here we are the day before Black Friday. On this day, all the stores typically become profitable for the year because of the Christmas shopping revenue.
I’ve seen a lot of good tips to plan and make it a successful shopping day, but I’m going to offer just three simple ideas today. These are ideas that will help you get into the giving spirit, but also share some of that spirit with others. You might just surprise someone. J
Tip number 1:
Let someone behind you go in front of you. Yes, turn around and tell them they can go before you when you’re standing in one of those long lines to check out at the register. Perhaps you can share some Christmas spirit by doing this a couple of times during the day.
Tip number 2:
If you’re standing in line to buy coffee, buy the person behind you coffee too. Just mention to the clerk you want to purchase coffee for the person behind you and let them order with you. It’s a small inexpensive way to again, share the joy of Christmas and put a smile on someone else’s face.
Tip number 3:
This will be a tough one for some of you. J Give up your parking space for someone else. Perhaps you’ll come across a space close to the entrance. It is a great opportunity to get into the giving spirit by passing on your space and signaling to another driver he or she can have it. Perhaps you’ll have to do some extra walking, but it’ll be worth it.
Black Friday will certainly carry its fair share of traffic, lines and some stress, but don’t let it get the best of you! Do what you can to keep your focus on others rather than yourself.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. (1 Chronicles 16:34)
Can you think of other tips to help share the giving spirit on Black Friday, or through out the Christmas shopping season? If so, please let us know your ideas in the comments.
